The 18th edition of "Mamers en Mars," European film festival in the Pays de la Loire, organized by the association Artemis, took place this weekend in Mamers, France. Smáfuglar (2 Birds) was honored at The festival with the following awards:

Smafuglar (2 Birds) was awarded The Best Short Film at The The Northern Wave International Film Festival that was celebrated from the Friday 27th of February to Sunday 1. of March, 2009 in Grundarfjörður, Iceland. The philosophy of the festival, upon which its name is based, is Nouvelle Vague, or New Wave. Like Nouvelle Vague, Northern Wave attempts to revive the recognition of filmmaking as an art form and the director as artist/author. An important goal of the festival is to develop relationships between experienced filmmakers and emerging filmmakers in Iceland and other countries. Smafuglar (2Birds) is in The Official Selection of The 21st Filmfest Dresden. 70 films are due to compete from 14. to 19. April for these much coveted short film trophies. In the seven international competitions 43 films are in contention for the Golden Horsemen, while 27 shorts are fighting it out in the national competitions. Entries from a total of 20 countries are in the running for the festival's prizes. Most of the short films come from Great Britain (9) and France (8), followed by Spain (3).
